When we calibrate various temperature sensors such as thermocouples, thermal resistances, and thermometers, we often use temperature calibration baths. Temperature calibration baths is divided into portable calibration baths for on-site use and precision calibration baths for laboratory use. Is there any difference between the two? How should we use temperature calibration equipment correctly? Dearto gave some opinions on the use of the two temperature calibration baths.
The "portable calibration bath" in this article refers to the process instrument used for on-site calibration; the "precision calibration bath" refers to the standard calibration equipment that will be removed and brought into the workshop or laboratory for calibration with a fixed calibration bath.
A few common reasons for choosing a portable calibration bath:
①If you want to calibrate the entire measurement loop from a certain measurement point on site to the display screen in the control room at one time, then you need to use a portable calibration bath to start the calibration from the process sensor or transmitter. In this case, each node of the loop needs to be calibrated separately only when a large error occurs in the entire loop.
②If you do not want or cannot remove the instrument from the current installation location, you can choose a portable calibration bath for on-site calibration.
③In order to ensure that the instrument is calibrated under the actual environment or conditions, you can choose to use a portable calibration bath for on-site calibration.
④ If the installation and design of the field instrument can be easily calibrated on site, then a portable calibration bath may be a more efficient calibration method.
Choose common ground for using precision calibration bath:
① If the instrument to be calibrated is still in the debugging stage and has not been installed on site, it is more accurate and convenient to use a precision calibration bath in the laboratory.
②If you need to consider the largest uncertainty factor, it is easier to obtain better uncertainty by using a precision calibration bath than a portable calibration bath. To complete this type of calibration, specialized fixed high-precision calibration equipment is required, as well as more controllable environmental conditions and operating procedures in workshops and laboratories.
③If you want to obtain the accreditation of the calibration laboratory, it is easier to obtain the accreditation of the laboratory by using these precision calibration baths and other equipment to complete the calibration.
④When your portable calibration bath or other portable equipment needs to be calibrated with a reference standard, you generally choose to use a precision calibration bath in the laboratory for comparison.
To sum up, the application occasions are different, the questions considered are different, and the answers are different. The most effective calibration method is the combination of on-site calibration and laboratory calibration. Some instruments can be calibrated on site using portable troughs, while some calibration work and services need to be performed in specialized workshops and laboratories using precision calibration troughs.
